Tim Hortons | TimmyMe
We partnered with Tim Hortons to create TimmyMe, the world's first HCE-enabled closed loop mobile wallet.
TimmyMe was used by 10% of Tim Hortons' total addressable market within 1 month of launch.
Tim Hortons is a top 50 QSR with more than 4000 locations across North America. The company approached Clearbridge to help create a mobile payment solution to reduce customer queueing times. The solution needed to leverage its existing infrastructure including point of sale (POS) and two different payment processors. The main challenges Tim Hortons was facing included:
Tim Hortons and Clearbridge Mobile partnered to deliver a mobile application with payment functionality using a proprietary mobile payment SDK. The SDK was leveraged to build an HCE-enabled NFC and secure barcode mobile wallet solution – the first of its kind in the world.
TimmyMe was the world's first HCE-enabled closed loop mobile wallet, and gave Tim Hortons a competitive edge, establishing the company as an innovative leader in the QSR space. The app quickly proved successful in the market:
“The feeling is that Clearbridge Mobile goes above and beyond what you expect from them. We were proud to say we were the first quick service restaurant in North America to launch near field communication payment. Our company received a lot of public attention and media coverage for being the first to launch the payments in our restaurants using NFC. We received a good return on our investment.”
